Do you remember that I said a week or so ago that I would do my anti-holiday rant later?

Well, that still holds.

I don't quite understand why I'm not up to doing it yet... in fact, I went out for a while this morning (to big Lots) and I almost got in a holiday mood! Damn, I don't understand that, either.

I have been in a blue funk the last couple of days... I think that it's the result of my project-eating ambition of last week, followed by... nothing. It's kinda like, intellectually, I know that I can get a lot of shit done, but my lazy-bone has taken over my mind, and I just can't get started.

A year ago I said that I was going to learn C. I still haven't started that project yet, even though I know it's within my capacity and would improve my ability to get a better (or a least different) job. And I love learning things. It's just that... well, that's one of the things that every computer-ambitious person needs to learn. And, like with a lot of other things, if a lot of people tell me I should or shouldn't do something (should quit smoking; should exercise) I automatically do the opposite thing. It's either stubborn or stupid, or both. But I don't really know how to combat it.

You will notice, if you scroll down, that my journal-ring links are different now. I think that it's kinda cool (duh) and it will be really easy to add onto when I am accepted into Open Windows, Little Bastard and Archipelago....

This was another relatively early morning up... about 08:00. Since I have to go to work at 21:00 tonight, I've gotta figger out how to get an additional 4-5 hours of shut-eye in here somewhere...

The snow ended yesterday afternoon, but it's still cloudy; it looks like it could start up at any time again. I had to clean the truck off when I went out this morning. There were four distinct layers: snow, ice, a layer of little round balls of snow and then more snow.

I heard that the eskimos had one hundred and thirty-seven different names for snow. I think it will be easier to learn C...
(incidentally, the 137 is completely made up. There is a chance that it is correct, however... stranger things have happened...)

While I was out at Big Lots, I snagged a bargain: CD jewel cases, $.99 for five. And, naturally, one in every five was already busted. But still, that's only a quarter apiece. I seem to have accumulated quite a few CD-ROMs lately that only come in envelopes, which is pretty dangerous, I think. However, to the manufacturer, the jewel case would be more expensive than the CD...

So, anyways, in the basement, I found a bunch of old 5.25 inch disk holders, full of old C= data that I will never use again... so now I will have the holders full of my CDs. I even have some good places on my shelves to put them, where they won't be in the way but they will still be handy.

I'm hoping that this rotation will be easier on me than the last one was. I did not enjoy getting my brains beat out and my toes stepped on and my kneecaps shattered. There should be absolutely nothing happening in Topeka after the hour of 22:00 for the next week.
....RIGHT!

More later maybe... maybe not.

Thanx for being here!
