This was another early morning for me, even though I went to bed much later than usual last night. I was up at 06:00. Unlike the last few mornings, I didn't start to work right away... in fact, I really got very little accomplished today.
Together, though, Karen and I got a lot accomplished. Mostly, we talked about finances, and budgets, and how to get out of the hole we have dug for ourselves. I am really feeling hopeful right now about it. We went out and got the new Quicken '98, and we will use its budget facility. So far it looks, as I said, promising. We make enough money to be pretty well off... we just spend more than we can afford. That is going to come to a screeching halt, though. We are both guilty, spending money on things that are not necessary; when it gets right down to it, the list of "necessary" things is pretty small.
Last night was really enjoyable. Like I said, we got Men in Black and George of the Jungle; MIB was probably more seriously entertaining, but George was simply, stupidly hilarious.
We did watch the Chiefs again today, and again, they kicked some serious ass... 30 to zip. AND the Broncos lost today, too, so the Chiefs will have the home field advantage in the play-offs. This is good, making me think that they really have a chance to win it all this year.
Of course, the Chiefs are good at that... fooling people into thinking that they're actually good. Then losing in the first or second playoff round. It's happened before, it'll happen again.
In other football news, Green Bay also won today, cinching their division. As long-time readers and friends know, I have always been a Green Bay fan, even through those long lean years. I was, however, not overtly vocal about it, I must admit.
Karen has made some bean-and-cabbage-and-some-other-stuff soup, so I'm going to go check it out... it smells wonderful. Some of my recent domesticity has evidently rubbed off on her.
I've got a pretty full day planned tomorrow, too. I want to meet Marva again for coffee, go to the bank with twenty pounds of change, mount a mirror in the hallway and... well, other stuff, I guess, I can't remember right now. I need to eat, the smell is driving me crazy and I realized that I haven't eaten since breakfast and it's 17:30 already!
More tomorrow...
