It is now official... I am a jinx!

This morning after work, I went over to Joe's again, to install his scanner. If you recall, last time I went over, bound with the same duty, his keyboard was full of water... and no, that mystery has not been solved. So, we didn't get it done that day.

Joe had also mentioned that his machine was running rather slowly, so I thought that we'd tweak up WIN95 some for him, too.

He'd bought a HP scanner, and it wants you to install the software first. OK, so we did that. As we were doing that, a squealing sound started emitting from within the bowels of his tower case. Joe thought that it sounded a lot like the fan going out again, he'd already had one replaced.

Anyway, after we got the software installed, it wanted to re-start. I said OK, and it proceeded to restart. Until it got to the part where it accesses the hard disk. It balked, "abort, quit, retry?" it asked plaintively. "R, of course" I answered. And again, and again, and again, I said "R"! "R, dammit, R!"

To no avail. The HD is dead. Joe found the start disks, so we did a scandisk on it, it was finding many bad sectors when I left. Joe will go out and get another HD today, probably, and we'll put it in like tomorrow or Thursday.

In other news... I did get a half-way decent sleep yesterday, but I got worked too hard again last night. And now I'm starting on those damned 12-hour shifts again... O'well, only three more days.... then I get my wisdom tooth out, get some drugs and sleep for three days...

And now, to bed. Karen is keeping the bed warm for me... I haven't woken her up yet...
