I did get some sleep today... two three-hour segments, with a three-hour anti-sleep in the middle. It was a warm, cloudy day, looked like rain but didn't, not very much anyway.
So far tonight... not too bad. Doing a few patients now and then, but nothing like last night.
Thanxgiving is over. I'm happy about that, for, even though I have a lot to be thankful for, I really have nobody to be thankful to. Well, I guess that I can be thankful to my parents, and their genetic legacy, which has allowed me to take advantage of the opportunities that I have had... and to lady luck, for allowing me to be born into a world and at a time when there were opportunities.
Suppose that I hadn't been born, but some other kid was... born to my parents, of course, at the same time that I was supposed to be born. And this other kid, besides not being me, had a different mix of the same genetic material.
Suppose that kid was unlike me in a lot of different ways... say, like, he was good looking and ambitious and smart and sociable. And a witty womanizer.
Suppose that had happened... well, where would I be, then?
Well, the night went very slowly, but it's gone now, and I'm sitting at home again, getting ready to go to bed.
I have decided against doing my anti-holiday rant right now. Part of the reason for that is... egg nog. Shit, any holiday that features egg nog (and fudge... don't forget the fudge!) can't be all bad. Well, it can be all bad, but just kinda peripherally include goodies like egg nog and fudge... at any rate, I stopped by the pharmacy and got some pain pills (for that damned wisdom tooth) and I got some egg nog too, so right now I'm pretty mellow on the subject.
I'll get in the swing of things here really soon, though... I don't want to disappoint anybody, after all! Do you remember last year how we took the "X" out of X-mas? Anticipate some more verbal surgery...
Which reminds me... I'll have to dig that (last year's deal) out of the archives, I hope that it's still around somewhere. Not that it was all that good, but I just don't want to repeat myself..
