I slept all day yesterday, Karen woke me at 17:00. We went out to Walgreens and got some necessities, thought about going out to eat but we bought a cocunut cream pie instead. The pie place usually has sandwiches, but they were all out by the time we got there... so we just had pie.

And I went back to bed about 20:30... and slept until 03:45 this morning.

I piddled around for a while, then started the plumbing project. Set up the light, got the wrenches, etc... crawled in the crawl space... and busted the first pipe that I laid a wrench on.

O'well, I thought... I knew this would happen. After all, the pipes are fifty years old... so I continued.

Things were going pretty well... well, at least I hadn't been bitten by a spider yet...

One joint on the three-inch cast-iron pipe was being recalcitrant; so I got out the torch. With the application of heat, the lead that they used to put the pipes together started melting.

This is good! I thought.

So after all of the lead was out of the joint, I again applied the wrench. A little tugging as I rotated it... a little more tugging... AH! It broke loose!

But wait... the whole thing seems pretty loose...

Yep, the worst thing that could happen... happened.

The waste pipe had broke off just where it goes into the floor. And I have no idea whatsoever about how to fix it. None.

So... the plumber will be called, and it will cost me an arm and a leg.

And my tooth hurts... but it's not my tooth, but my gum. I took a film before I left work, and there is no abscess. It still needs to come out, though, it's probably got a big cavity; the detail isn't that good on the film I took, being specific for x-raying jaws, not teeth...

So, I'm discouraged and defeated by my plumbing escapade, and hurty-mouth to boot... I would just go back to bed, but I couldn't sleep anyway, and there are all kinds of other stuff that I need to get done, too...
