Another tiring night, but not as bad as Saturday night. A little bit busier, and I did feel a lot more rested.
Since I've started including entries from a year ago, I think that my life now, or at least my writing about it, has dropped off considerably. I don't know why that is, or if maybe I'm wrong about it.
There has been an interesting discussion going on backchannel in the diary-l list, which is a mailing list for journalers. It seems that one journaler, Al, is upset about the content of another journaler's entries, this other journaler being cognito. They are both on OFTEN and on Open Pages, should you wish to investigate further.
The upshot is that Cognito may stop his online journal, and I will be very sorry to see this happen. For, although this is not censorship per se, it is effectively working that way. And I confess to abhoring censorship in any fashion.
Neither may I criticize Al for saying what he thinks.
The most important thing is the world is to have a sense of humor.
The second thing is knowing when to apply your sense of humor.
The third thing is... there is no time like the present.
People get serious over the damnedest things... like what I write or what Cognito writes or what Al writes.
If you're looking for serious, factual stuff on the WWW, and you're reading journals.... boy, do you have a surprise coming!
I realize that my point of view is not for everybody. I mean, shit, like, some people have to be serious to keep the world running. And in order to be serious, they have to believe that they themselves are serious people.
They do need to get used to people like me laughing at them, though. Because I, and others of my ilk, will do that. Often to the point of death.
On the other hand... I laugh at myself if I start getting too serious, too.
But I digress.
I (quite seriously) oppose censorship in any form on the web. Any form, any where, by anybody.
More tomorrow....
