I stayed up late last night, and got up late this morning; it was actually around noon when I finally rolled outa bed.
Made the first pot of coffee and skimmed the paper... there were a few tornadoes around last night, but no damage, no lives lost, no real excitement. This is a strange time of the year for tornadoes, though. The conditions were just right. The conditions are frequently right in the spring and early summer...
So anyway, I decided not to go fishing today, but to get some stuff done around the house. I set about downloading Homesite 3.0 beta#3 and started cleaning the garage out, or rather cleaning it up. Messed around with the fishing tackle for a while too, detangling one of my best reels. There is a story associated with that deal... when Tyler and I were fishing, somehow I lost my grip on the rod whilst I was making a cast, throwing the rod in the pond. Tyler immediately cast and snagged the line. Unfortunately, the reel wasn't locked, so in order to retrieve the rod, we had to pull all of the line off of the reel, down to the knot securing it.
Well, that worked out OK, just took a lotta time. But as I was reeling the line in, I didn't keep tension on the line. So with the next cast, I got a hellacious backlash. So it took me about a half-hour to get that untangled and put right.
Then I aired up the tire on the Saab, and parked it out in front of the house. Next thing is to put a sign in the window... "For Sale". I'll be sad to see the last Saab go, they were good cars.
Next project: mounting the winch on the trailer, so I don't kill myself getting the damned thing back on the trailer after a hard day's fishing. That took a couple of hours, but it is going to be very nice. The winch is pretty slow, but it's a bunch faster than me healing up after hurting my back....
So... tomorrow is grandparents day at Packy's school. I showed a great deal of enthusiasm about going, especially when I heard that there were religious services involved. Karen and Kim, however, decided that it would be best if the other grandparents in this Lutheran school weren't exposed to me.
Well, shit, I'll just go fishing instead.
