31 JULY 1997

31 July 1997 18:01

We got up a lot earlier than planned... Tyler never got to sleep, and I was up at 03:00. We fiddled around and talked and finally got ready to go. We got there right before sunup, the sky was a lovely orange for a couple of minutes.

We decided to use buzz baits, and we were rigged and in the water in short order. I caught a nice bass on my first cast, and Tyler caught one on his third cast. We thought we were gonna have a helluva day, but it didn't turn out to be all that good, they slowed down pretty quickly once the sun came out. We continued to take an occasional fish, but never had a really good run. We probably caught about thirty or so, no really big ones, though.

It was still a helluva lot of fun. I really enjoy being with Tyler. He is so much different than JD, but he still has the same basic good sense and values. I really wish that I could spend a lot more time with him.

We decided about 11:00 that we'd had enough and we were hungry, besides, the wind had come up enough to make it a little hard to handle the boat... and we were both tired.

We came home and found the van in the driveway... Karen was home! I was afraid that something serious had happened, but Packy was sick today, and Kim stayed home with him 'til about 10:30, then Karen left work and brought Packy home and Kim went on to work.

Tyler and I had been talking about Taco Tico, so we left to go eat. Many people scorn fast mexican food, and I do sometimes, but Taco Tico is the standard by which I measure all others. Many people think that I'm crazy...

Tyler's truck started running really shitty after he crossed the OK/KS line, so we looked at it and decided to do a tune-up... plugs, rotor, cap, etc... went to the parts store and got the wrong parts (It happens every damned time.... just like plumbing!) after we had put in two spark plugs of the wrong variety I looked at the distributor cap... back to get the right parts. Tyler has not had any experience working on autos at all, so he had fun(?) but he didn't get his knuckles skinned up like a regular mechanic... this time, anyway.

I told him that one of the main reasons to get a good education was so that you can afford to have someone else work on the damned cars and refrigerators and plumbing. I think that he's convinced.

So... Tyler took a shower and went to bed after we'd finished. I'm trying really hard to hold my eyes open right now. Therefore, I'm putting off answering Al for yet another day. I did do my homework, as he recommended. But my body and mind are way too weary to do the required thinking...

Thanx for being here!
