I finished Yesterday's entry late last night, and I downloaded an FTP program this afternoon, so this is just mostly a test entry to make sure that I can do what I need to do. Therefore, this is going to be short!
There will be a real entry later....
Lisa's father brought her back to Huntsville from Houston, where she had attended her younger brother's graduation ceremony. Her father is a bass player/musician and a mechanical engineer/artist for Shell. He seems like a really nice guy, but he didn't get to stay very long.
We just generally messed around until Tyler left to get dressed for graduation, then we messed around 'til it was time for us to go. We got a bite to eat on the way.
The ceremony was held at Sam Houston's colosseum, which held about 3,000 people, and it was almost full. It is, of course, a non-smoking facility, and at any one time, ten percent of the people were outside smoking. I know, 'cause I went out three times myself.
So there were 400+ graduates. Arranged in alphabetical order, of course. They all filed in starting right on time at 19:30, and they were all seated within about 15 minutes. Then the prayer (A prayer? at a public school graduation ceremony? Yup. Two of them, as a matter of fact.) followed by the usual students speaking. During the speeches, there were several beach balls inflated and bouncing among the graduating class. I did get a picture of this, hopefully it came out all right.
This was a rowdy bunch of graduates, but maybe they all are. I haven't been to a graduation since... well, since I graduated. There were quite a few capers cut on stage, including an unintentional pratfall. 90 % of the students, Tyler included, just did what they were supposed to do... walk across the stage, pick up their fake diplomas and exit.
We started getting antsy after Tyler walked, and soon left the auditorium. We hooked up with Chad, a friend of Tylers (an all-american scholar) who is still a year away from graduating. We kinda wanted to wait and hook up with Tyler, but we figgered that it would be a mob scene. Chad said that her would get with Tyler and tell him that we went home. So we went home.
Tyler finally made it over to JD's about 22:30 and hung around for an hour or so, then went off to party. He was very happy to have it over with, of course.
So JD and Lisa and I just sat around and BSed until about 01:30, when I learned that Lisa had to go to work tomorrow (Sunday) ot 07:00. Oops! I had kept them up way past their bedtime...
Not wanting to displace two people from their bed, (although it was graciously offered) I am sleeping on the couch in the living room. And the computer is in their bedroom. I had been working on their machine off and on all night, so they couldn't really go to bed until I'd finished.
Speaking of being finished... this entry is now.
