...In the Middle of the night....
(This feature will not be available for 20 more days!)

I got a really slow start on the domestic chores. Well, I haven't started yet, actually. Lisa woke me up about 11:30, and we went to pick up the Saab. Yes, the Saab is once more in our posession. I figgure that Lisa will give it a test today. Lisa is one of those people who can break things by merely touching them... sometimes just a look will do it!

Karen had told me that this was BC/BS Bar-B-Que day outside in the mall (the area between two of their buildings) so I went down to have lunch with her. Unfortunately, the BBQ is tomorrow instead of today... she didn't page down on her computer screen to check the date, and consequently got laughed at by all of the people that she works with...

I had a nice lunch with her and Kim anyway; and I got the checkbook from her so I could come home and balance it. Starting this entry is merely procrastination towards my domestic chores, the first of which is... the damned checkbook.

I was thinking as I was getting to sleep last night... it would really be better if our brains weren't hooked so directly to our gonads. Or the rest of our bodies, either. It would be benificial to the world if there were some way that everyone could cut off the cogitating part of our brains from the part that does the housekeeping. Then decisions could be based on actual logic, instead of the state of our sexual frustration/satiation or the emptiness (or fullness) of our bowels.

On the subject of evil, brother Jon wrote that willful ignorance is evil. I agree that it's very bad, but once again, it just someone's way of attaining their goals. If you want to believe something and logic/education gets in your way, then ignorance is the way to do it. Stupid, yes. Evil, no.

The atheist is a one-eyed man in the land of the blind...
Some way or another in my mind (and in most people's minds) evil is tied up in there with the devil, who is a part of the god belief system. In trying to clear my mind of things using god as a reference in any way, I have come upon many things that have surprised me. The concept of evil is one. On a less serious note, what does an atheist say to someone who has sneezed? God bless you doesn't work; I, however, have been conditioned all of my life to utter this phrase, or the original german. I feel that I am being... impolite by ignoring the fact that someone has expelled the snot from their nasal passages in a violent manner in my presence. Acknowledgement of another's bodily functions is polite in this case; acknowledgement of a fart, on the other hand, is not. Go figger.

God is deeply rooted into our society, like a cancer. The rare atheist is like a one-eyed man in the land of the blind. I'm trying for the puritianistic ideal of atheism. It won't work, but I'm a-gonna try, anyway.

Vacation plans... still not figgered out completely yet. I plan to visit my Mom in Enid, OK. before going to Texas. I will be in Huntsville for Tyler's graduation on the 31st. Other than that, I don't know what I'm doing. I will be updating on a daily basis, but not posting. Mom has a computer, but no on-line service; JD has a service through the college, but it is not reliable. I should be able to post from Huntsville, but I won't have my mailing list available. Wait, maybe I can figger that out before I start out... if you want to get on my mailing list, just send me some mail and mention that you want to be on the list.

Note on the quote at the top of the page: I am not a gun nut! I do, however, have some friends who are. This is definitely a gun nut quote, but it also has some major philosophical connotations.
I am not a gun nut!
In other words, it scares the shit out of me. I have found out something about gun nuts recently: I like most of them that I have met. Their gun nuttiness is a thought-out thing, and not a knee-jerk reaction. And the basis for their belief is logic, not the political fuzzy logic. Most of them that I know are cops or ex-cops, the very people that you would think should be for gun control. They are very aware that criminals have guns, and they think that non-criminal people should be able to have guns, too. I do agree with them on that, even though I would never personally carry a gun.

-----21:04-----

This will be quick... ER is just starting... I hardly ever watch it, but I want to tonight... Hell, this will just have to wait...oops, no, it was a re-run, and one that I had seen, dammit.

After sleeping 'til 11:30, I decided to go back to bed around 14:30, nursing a headache. Karen woke me up at 17:45 and reminded me that we had an appointment at 18:30. My headache was gone, I guess I just needed a little more sleep.

Karen and I went out to eat after taking care of some business. We were going to go to my favorite omlette place, but they were very busy, so we went over to Kim and Steve's, they were grilling burgers and invited us over earlier, but we turned them down. Lucky for us, they fixed enough supper for everybody anyway. They weren't even surprised to see us.

Going fishing early in the morning. I'll probably fish 'til noon, then I need to go down and renew the car tags and pay the taxes. Ugh, I hate paying taxes. I guess that's a universal feeling, though.

More tomorrow....

Thanx for being here!
