| Eyes are neat. What else can you poke a hole in and have it heal up completely within 24 hours? |
Another good night's sleep... twelve hours. Physical labor must be good for me. I went to bed about 21:30 last night, and Cowboy awoke me this AM at 09:30. Normally, he leaves when Karen gets up. He resents my presence in the bedroom. But she had shut him in, and he had no choice but to interact with me to get out. The first thing that he did was to nuzzle my hand, which was uncovered. I withdrew the hand, then he left me alone for a while. Then, emboldened by his need to leave, he started nuzzling my ear. I woke up more, and begin petting him. He will normally put up with petting about ten seconds, but he acted like he was in seventh heaven. After about five minutes, I decided to get up.
He was out the door in a flash, and I heard him hit the cat door in the kitchen about two seconds later.
I guess I'll have to reevaluate our relationship. He could easily get to be my favorite cat.
The eye has healed completely. Eyes are neat. What else can you poke a hole in and have it heal up completely within 24 hours?

I think that maybe Cowboy sensed that he was not really making it as the perfect cat and he decided that he will try harder.
|
Ric and Deb and Jeff have a cat named Garfield. He's a big yellow tom (neutered, natch) and reminds me a lot of the martyred Majik, my favorite cat when he was alive. Anyway, Garfield is just about the perfect cat... not too friendly, but friendlier than any of our cats. Kinda like there when you want him to be and not there when you don't. I think that maybe Cowboy sensed that he was not really making it as the perfect cat and he decided that he will try harder. Am I dreaming, or what?

since this seems to be a procrastinating day, today was the day I did it.
|
I just spent an hour fiddling around trying to make this page "perfect". Nobody will even notice the changes, I'll bet. I did steal the inset idea from the gus. I've been wanting to steal it for a while, but since this seems to be a procrastinating day, today was the day I did it. Now the main problem that I will have is not overusing it. I do believe that it is a technic that will be very irritating if used too often and inappropriately.

See what I mean?
Playing around, I find that the table width cannot be reduced further than the width of the lengthiest word in the phrase. So I will have to use littler words to have littler insets. Bummer. Maybe I'll just use smaller fonts...
OK, I have to get off this machine and get working on other stuff... stuff that requires physical labor. I know that I will feel better after I finish my chores and then I can sit down and relax and play. But I got a lotta shit to do before that can happen.

OK, enough is enough. Another hour passed by all-of-a-sudden like. I did get some email from my niece Cathy, who I haven't heard from in ages. She's graduating from Maryland U with a degree in... in... well, she didn't tell me. Computer science, maybe? But I am happy for her and proud of her, too. She's had a long row to hoe, that girl has.

Another update/more time wasting....
I'm not really used to pulling a trailer, especially one loaded with brush. And I don't like it. Even though I had the contents firmly strapped down, the brush settled and the straps loosened. So I had to stop mid-trip and retighten them to keep stuff from falling off. It was then that I discovered that I hadn't plugged the lights in. When I finally got to the dump, I decided that unloading the trailer manually was too much of a chore, so I wrapped some tiedowns around a big ol' log there and around the load and pulled forward, expecting the load to come off of the trailer. Nope. The log just came merrily along. So I unloaded it manually anyway. I didn't get stuck in the eye, though, I was wearing my sunglasses. I'm not really as dumb as I look.

I found out why one should not buy cheap paint. One has to spend an inordinate amount of time stirring it to mix the pigment into the juice or whatever the hell it is called. And then one has to throw it away anyway.
I bought some grey porch enamel about three months ago from Big Lots. It was a bargain, about one-fourth of what it would cost anyplace else. It was such a bargain that I bought two gallons.... twice as much as I needed. Fool, I am.
Anyway, since that didn't work out, I hauled a lot of junk over here (from the rental house) to get picked up by the trash people. There was a guy over there from the rental agency cleaning the yard up and doing a good job of it. I sure as hell hope that it gets rented soon...

My ass got ambitious for some reason or another, and I built one railing and a bench for the front deck. The railing is pretty simple, spanning the width of the deck, and the bench is along the front side of the deck, five thirteen-foot two-by-sixes separated by one-and-a-half inches. Pretty solid. Now I need to get out the washer and get them back to the redwood color and put preservative on them.
| ...it took me two years to think of how to do it exactly right... |
I have done a bunch of physical labor today, and I feel great... I've actually accomplished something beside sitting on my ass if front of the computer! I've got about a third of the deck decoration done that I want to get done, and it only took me a couple of hours. Of course, it took me two years to think of how to do it
exactly right...
And now it's time to get a shower, I sweat a lot when I work hard, and even when I don't... it's a good trick, it makes people think that I'm working a lot harder than I really am. Most of it, of course, is caused by the CAD (coronary artery disease)... don't try this at home, folks. This is a professional patient...
