It has been a fun day thus far, and I expect it to continue that way. I slept in until 10:00, Karen got up at about 09:45. I made coffee and we sat around and read the paper, then got dressed and went walking along the shunga trail. It was just a little nippy, with a strong southerly breeze. It is supposed to climb up to the mid-sixtys today, and do even better tomorrow... with the help of the south wind.
We didn't walk but a couple of miles... still not in very good shape yet, and I wanted to save some energy for actually getting stuff done. So we walked home, and I started looking for the hose-end sprayer. I looked for an hour; I found the Weed-Be-Gone, and the sprayer was right next to it last spring. But it was no-where to be found. Basement, garage, back shed, under the sink... nowhere. I was coming from the shed around the front of the house when I saw a kid about Pac ky's age starting off with Packy's bike! I yelled at him and scared the shit outa him... and then I heard adult voices; Steve and a friend had come over to work on Steve's car, which died in front of our house Saturday. The kid was with Steve's friend, so I told him he could ride Packy's bike and I went over to talk with Steve. I told him that I couldn't find my sprayer, did he have one I could borrow? He told me where it was in his garage, so I drove over and found it. Strange, it looks exactly like my sprayer! This is possibly why I couldn't find mine...
So, I killed all of the dandelions. Then I fixed the gutter in the back of the house, and when I get enough energy I'm going to fix the one in the front.
In the meantime, Karen and Lisa were cleaning up the kitchen and fixing lunch, and now Karen has started cleaning up our bedroom. De-junking it, actually. And most of the junk ends up in the computer room somehow. So one of my next projects is going to be to clean up the computer room.
I got some email this morning that asked why I used a 24-hour clock; The 24-hour clock... is necessary for shift workers, at least for me. When I wake up, I need to know *which* 7 o'clock it is! so the 19:00 gives me a clue, and I need all the clues I can get.
Finally... everyone is leaving. Everyone as in Packy and Kim and Lacee. It's been a beautiful day, and the kids are much too full of energy. Cute, but enough is enough. Karen and I want to spend a few quiet hours... she's going back to work tomorrow, and me the day after. Which means that I should stay up most of the night tonight, and get back in the pattern.
Kim said that no, they had bought a new sprayer last year, just like mine, on my recommendation. That means that the damned thing is still lost, which means that I have to find it! But I've already looked everywhere that it might be... I guess I'll look everywhere again. Is everybody like this, or is it just me? I absolutely hate lost stuff. I don't think that I threw it out when I cleaned out the garage... I don't think I did... but I won't rest easy until I find it. Which reminds me... I also lost my favorite screwdriver. I might as well worry about that, too.
I have discovered something else good about MSIE 4.0 - the fact that it opened multiple instances of itself bugged me, but then I realized that I could be using two windows at once, one to be reading while the other is loading. A great time-saver, and here I thought it was a bug. Watch them get rid of it in the final release once I get used to it!
Enough. For those who might care, I did some more yesterday but I didn't think that it deserved another mailing list entry...
And now the damned FTP "site is unavailable" sign is up, so I guess I'll wait a while... like I had a choice. O'well..
Late-Breaking News! Karen is off tomorrow, too. We just spent some time in the hot tub and I was feeling sorry for her because she had to go back to work; she informed me that no, she wasn't going back to work tomorrow, but we were going to have FUN! I'm not really sure what that means, but it probably won't be another get-stuff-done-around-the-house day anyway!
And Still no FTP!
