In the middle of the night...
It was a beautiful day (Saturday) in northeast Kansas, and probably in a lot of other places, too. And beautiful days are a bane to night workers; we are legitimate prey. And I was caught.

After three hours of sleeping, I got up to go to the bathroom. I could tell that it was a pretty day, but I blocked it out. However, on my way back to bed, I paused to see what was on the TV. Damn it, it was the KU/Iowa State ball game. I knew that I shouldn't, but I sat down and watched it. KU was awesome again.

Then the grandkids came over, or at least three of them. So I had to play with them a while. Then it was 18:30, and I realized that I better go back to bed. I got up at 20:00 and went in to work, and they proceeded to work my butt off. Right now I am exhausted, and I feel about as bad as I did Thursday. And my temp is still at 100.3. And I'm coughing up green stuff. I just hate it when that happens; it means that the bronchitis is back. I have been swigging down the cough syrup for the last week and disguising my symptoms, but now it's beyond deniability, dammit. I need to get some antibiotics in me soon, and get some more sleep. I'll stop by on the way home and get some Nyquil, knock myself out for ten hours or so.

While I was up, Doug called. His boat was not going to be ready for the Texas trip; it's motor was messed up. So what did he do? Why, he bought a new bass boat, of course. A Ranger, a little bit bigger than the one he had. It's a '97, but it has a '95 engine on it.

I am really looking forward to this trip. And being on a brand new boat will make it even nicer! Some other good news on the trip... the fellow that went with us last year might be able to go again. He had thought that he wouldn't be able to get off, but now maybe he can. That'll mean we've got two boats, and another 25% off on the room rates... every little bit helps! Plus, he will take his boat, so we won't have to fish 3-to-a-boat; two works out a lot better.

Lisa went to a concert Friday night in Wichita... she saw Tool, and in the process, got mashed up against the fence in front of the stand, along with a thousand other people. Her forearms and knees were bruised and she was limping today. And, of course, she had a Great Time! Kids... such resilience. JD used to come home from concerts with bruises all over from the mosh pit and be talking about how wonderful it was. And I get upset if I have to stand in a line...

Sleep now.

Thanx for being here!
