We got outa here about 10:00 Saturday, and we were in Wichita about 12:15. Spent some time playing with Ric's new Dell Pentium200 and then Karen and Deb and I went over to her folks. Debbie had done her research very well, and Betty (Karen and Deb's mom) went over with them to look at the new facilities; Betty was impressed, I believe, and then they talked to Charlie (Karen and Deb's dad) and he seemed to be in favor of the move also. So, after about an hour of pre-planning strategy, we went back over to Ric & Deb's house.
Charlie was in better shape than I expected him to be in. He is having the slightly slurred speech and slow, unsure ambulation with his walker, but we were able to get him up and sitting in his chair in the living room without too much effort on our part. His hearing aid is in the shop, so normal conversation was not possible.
Ric and Deb had made arrangements to go out with some friends to celebrate a birthday, and invited us along. We went to the Macaroni Grille, newly opened in Wichita. The place was a virtual madhouse, with many more potential customers than places to sit them. They had even run out of pagers. However, we had reservations, and were seated within about 15 minutes.
Good food generally, but skimpy salads. I had a wonderful salmon filet with stir-fried veggies. Karen was not very hungry, and just had an appetizer. The acoustics in the place were terrible, very hard to carry on a conversation. And they screwed the bill all up, also. O'well.
Went home and did some computer stuff with Ric and went to bed...
