Here's my little darlin'! This picture is a year old but it's one of my favorites. She has such a mischevious look on her little face... quite normal for her! Also, if you click on the pic, you'll hear Lacee say, "I'm so damn-darn cute!" However, that feature isn't quite working yet, or if it is, I can't verify it... In fact, none of my sounds are working right now, except for the MIDI. I don't know what I screwed up, probably something simple deep in the guts of WIN95.

I want to let Michael R. Morris know that his idea hit home. Read the new article on Computer Sex. Mike gave me the idea on Jan 06 with this note:

As I set here writing this the strangest question popped into my mind. Maybe you can help me with the answer? How in the heck do you determine what gender your computer might be. I cant find any information on this anywhere. If there is a way to determine this I hope mine is female

So, I thought I'd better help Mike and everyone else out with my supreme wisdom. I did try to get ahold of Mike, but his mail keeps bouncing! So, thanx again, Mike!

I'm a little bit ahead of myself on this one, but I'm gonna have a busy day tomorrow and I've made a lot of changes so I want to get them up now. Hopefully I'll get time to write some more tomorrow.

Up way too early, but I'm going to stay up anyway. Kim was going to take Karen to work, but she's still sick and won't be going in until 13:00, if at all. So I'm going to take Karen to work and then go over and paint some more. Lisa is going to be using the van on M/W/F to go to classes, so Karen will ride with Kim and Lisa will pick her up on those days. It will be confusing, but I am sure glad to see Lisa taking classes.

I'm kinda surprised that Washburn is having classes today, MLK day. Everything else is shut down, government and institution-wise.

16:23: And of course they don't have class today. Lisa was mis-informed by her friend Lysa. And it worked out OK because she got up very late and would've been late for her class anyway.

I went over to the rental house after taking Karen to work and started working on hanging an interior door. I had to do some extensive carpenter work on the frame; almost every doorframe in the house is busted. These people didn't know much about turning doorknobs, I guess. Anyway, after I got the frame squared away, I took the door out to the garage to cut it to size. I wrenched my back slightly picking it up but I thought nothing of it at the time. Then I proceeded to cut the wrong end off of the door. For those of you who don't know, a hollow-core door has a top and a bottom. There is six inches of reinforcement at the bottom, and only an inch at the top. So when I cut 1 1/2 inches off of the top, the door was effectively ruined. Disgusted with myself, I stood up suddenly with the heavy electric circular saw in my hand and said "shit" very loud. For two reasons: one for being stupid, and the other for really wrenching my back by being off-balance with a weight in my hand. I went to my knees in pain and was considering whether or not to try to get up. I sat down instead on the cold concrete floor and finally laid down on my back. Eventually the spasm went away, and I was able to get up again, very slowly. I put my tools up and locked up and drove home. It seems to be much better now, but I've still got a twinge down my right leg.

Every time that I have hurt my back, the doc has told me that it was because I was overweight and out-of-shape. I guess I've gotten that way again. I haven't done back exercises for three or four years, but I'll be starting them again really soon.

Karen and I went for a walk when she got home. It was a beautiful day, in the 50s I guess, but when we got to the path by the creek in the shade the temp dropped 20 degrees really fast. So it was kind of a short walk. My leg/back didn't bother me as much as I thought it might, either. Maybe I was more worried about it than was actually justified.

I'm going to spend an hour or so in the hot tub tonight, anyway, just on general principles.

I've been using the email assistant in MS mail, and I'm really disappointed. I've directed the mailing lists into their own boxes, and I'm finding my inbox empty most of the time. Bummer. On the other hand, it's not getting overfull anymore either.

Enough for today... pretty boring.

Thanx for being here!
