18 January 1997
I have a confession to make. A couple of days ago, my counter on the main page was at 5554. I hit reload just to see the number 5555. Is that petty, or what?

It's 01:29 and I'm up again. I think that I slept an hour before the cough woke me up. So I get up and smoke. The cough stuff that I use contains codeine and is usually pretty effective, but not tonight.

I got the scanner working great after a few problems having to do with not thouroughly reading the manual. And my screen resolution was originally set to 640X480, really made the scans look crappy. Upped the screen resolution and the scans look great now. I was afraid that my bargain scanner was not going to work out... that's the way my luck usually runs on these things.

Now I've just got to figger out what I want to scan and what I want to put up here. I think that I'll start off today with my high school senior picture (when I actually had hair!) and then let you see all of my baby pictures. No, I won't do that to you. Yes I will. No I won't. Yes I will. OK, I don't know. We'll see...

Open Pages was not operating yesterday, but Willa has a pretty thourough listing on her journal pages, so I was able to get my fix (with some exceptions). Thanx for being here, Willa!

07:00: I'm even more convinced... the cough medicine isn't working. I got the generic this time, I've always got Nucophed before. It's probably only got half of the codeine as the real stuff. Once again, it worked for two hours. That gives me a total of four hours of sleep.

12:54: Karen talked me into going to the grocery store with her. When we got there, there were only about ten carts left. The place is a veritable madhouse on Saturdays. And on top of that, people are rude, and I hate being around rude people. There are only so many people that can fit in any given aisle, but that doesn't stop some people at all. Then they get right in the middle and abandon their cart, blocking everyone else while they go their merry way unencumbered. And they're upset when they get back, because someone touched their cart!

And the parking situation... young people parking illegally and in everyone else's way because they're in a goddamned hurry! Like their time is so much more precious than anyone elses...
And, on top of that... the food prices are ridiculous. Like I'm telling you something that you don't already know... Karen saved about $17.00 with coupons, almost 20% of the total bill.

Bill Cosby's son, gunned down... what a waste, and what a comment on the human condition. That's the way the world is. Majorly sucky.

I'm in such a bad mood, I really shouldn't be writing. I should be sleeping, or painting (walls, not pictures) or playing with my scanner. I don't have bad moods very often, and they seem to follow times when I go out amoungst the general populace.

Karen is fixin' something good to eat, and I need to start a loaf of bread... I didn't want to pay $2.00 a loaf at the store, so I told Karen I'd start the machine when she got out of the kitchen. We have a one-person kitchen; two people can be in there at the same time, but only one can be doing anything.

Anyway, I think that I'll end this for right now. Open Pages is still down, dammit. I've depended too much on that page...

21:11: Just got back from eating, Karen and I went to the Cracker Barrel. I'd only been there once, and that time they told us we'd have to wait an hour, so we left. This time it was only a fifteen-minute wait, so we did. A decent meal at a fair price, certainly nothing spectacular or anything worth waiting more than fifteen minutes for...

Alethea (I spelled her name right this time!) has a recent and pretty much complete list of journals on her page too, so between her and Willa they've pretty well got the bases covered. Thanx, Alethea and Willa!

I picked up another hours' worth of sleep earlier, for a total of five. I certainly hope that I do better at that tonight. We (Lisa) have the kids tonight while Steve went out for his birthday. Kim and he were supposed to go out, but she's sick in bed, so Steve went out with the 'boys' and the kids are here. Lacee is so damned cute. I'm gonna get a sound file to put up here of her saying, "I'm so damn-darn cute!" I'll get a newer pic of her scanned in and put the sound file behind it, if I can figger it out... we'll see how that comes out.

Her grandma's pretty damn-darn cute, too.

And I'm gonna call it a day.
It's a day! Well, it was a day, now it's a night. Whatever.... it's done.

Thanx for being here!
