I'm sitting here with computer pieces all around me. This was the day to install the old hard drive and the TV board. Well, I've been at it for four hours, and I'm back to square one, and lucky to have gotten back with a functional computer. This is not supposed to be hard! Well, I've never had problems like this before, anyway.
I finally got the original CMOS configuration set, and am back to normal. No extra hard drive; no TV card. The TV card, well, I just need to get an adaptor for that, the old monitor input was female, this one's male. But the HD is really frustrating. I've put in ten or twelve HDs and never had a problem.
This Compaq is impressive, though. Very sturdily built, and very well designed. The printed schematics leave a lot to be desired, but there are better ones on-line that I need to download. I think that'll be my next step in this process. Then a call to the service people... maybe my conner drive just won't work.... but that's hard to believe.
Anyway, the rest of this day will be taken up with messing around with hardware and sleeping. I keep thinking that I'm surely caught up on my sleeping, then I go and sleep another eight hours! Maybe I'm putting it in the bank... no, it doesn't work that way. You can only build up deficits, not credits.
Lisa is in the process of cleaning the carpet. She had a lot of ambition some days. She lacerated her cornea when she was in Iowa with her folks over thanxgiving, and hasn't completely healed up yet for some reason.
That'll do it for today!
