December is damned near here. I hate to belabor the obvious, so I won't.
Since I didn't do a thanksgiving list, I decided to start early and officially not do an xmas list at this time.
Weather forecast: Topeka and vicinity: rain Friday and Saturday, snow Sunday, possibly heavy. That reminds me that I haven't got the gutters fixed yet. It won't happen before it starts raining, either. I am so damned procrastinator. I thought that I wouldn't have to fix the gutters until springtime.
Karen was planning on coming home Saturday, I hope that she makes it early, I don't like her driving by herself in bad weather.
I got Jackie Rosenfield's Poetry book in the mail, I am really impressed by it. Nice layout, excellent poetry. Makes me want to write more poetry.
Sleep... I didn't get enough yesterday. Couldn't get back to sleep after I put up yesterdays' entry, so I got up and watched the Chiefs' game. They won, but just barely. Went back to bed, still couldn't sleep. Finally got another two hours before I had to get up and go to work.
I need to work on my new computer. I want to take the hard disk from the old one and put in the the Compaq for a secondary. It's a 1.2 Gig, so I would have all the space I would need for a long time (yeah, I said that when I got my first 60 Meg drive...). I also want to get my TV/video capture card into the Compaq. It's a Reveal, and they've gone out of business. So I need to recover the '95 drivers that I got off of their site on the net from the old disk drive. I plan on installing the original 540 meg drive to the old machine; it's still got Win 3.1 on it. It should be a good machine for someone, if I can get it running. Maybe my Mom, maybe Lisa, maybe Tyler, maybe Kim, maybe Andy... or...Maybe I should sell it to pay for part of the Compaq.
It's raining now, but the rain has a colder center component. Like it could be ice if it really wanted to...
What do you call two lesbians in a closet? Liquor cabinet... in a canoe? Fur traders... Sorry, not very PC, but pretty funny. It's OK, some of my best friends are lesbians.
This night is a complete turn-around from last night. The only patients I've done tonight I had when I was trying to eat. I would really like to be able to sit down and eat lunch, but the patients come first. One of the patients, a guy I'll call Mr. Smith, is a great guy with chronic lung problems. He comes in about once a month, gets a breathing treatment and a chest xray. We're on a first-name basis now, and he always gets tickled when I tell him I wasn't done eating yet.
I do believe that I'm feeling better now. Antibiotics are wonderful. Not coughing up green stuff anymore, or blowing green snot out of my head. Lot of gastritis & enteritis, probably from the codeine and the antibiotics, or maybe it's part of what the original virus did to me. But that'll be gone in a day or two, I hope. What I need to do mostly is get some sleep!
In fact, I think that I'll put off working on the hardware switching until I am a little more rested. I really don't want to screw up my wonderful new machine...
I figgered out a way to prove that I'm real! Check out the December 1996 Readers' Digest page 49. You'll find an article by my brother, Jon Franklin. It's an excellent piece of work. How does this prove that I'm real? Well, I don't know. I should say, you can ask him, but he might deny knowing me, just out of meanness. Actually, this real/unreal thing is over. Nobody needs to worry about that anymore, right? But read the article anyway, and write to the publisher and tell them how much you like his work. Maybe he'll get a raise.
