Well, I guess I'll just slip into my night schedule. I was up up til 11:00 yesterday, then slept 'til 18:00, so I can stay up all night tonight with no problem. Go to bed about 09:00 and up at 16:00, ready to start the work week.
I just love being up all night! Party, party, party!
Weather check: cold, cloudy, no precipitation at the present. Some slight wind from the northeast. Forecast: Sleet, freezing rain, rain. I accidentally typed sleep. My subconscious got my fingers there for a minute. But I got 'em back. Maybe not.
I downloaded an editor program that Sage recommended (with the standard disclaimer, of course). It worked great, except for... it collides with my sound card. I get an echo that goes on and on and freezes the computer. When it's done echoing, I get the computer back. Really annoying. Anyway, I used it's search-and-replace function to revise all of my files. It would nag every third file it saved. So I'm back to notepad. MS Word wants to save files in its' own format, so with every save y'gotta tell it what you want it to do. Another alternative is to use the internet assistant. Not really an alternative, in my opinion, unless they've improved it a helluva lot. It was invaluable when I first started this, I learned a lotta HTML initially using it. But once you learn the 15 or 20 things that it can do for you, you're better off losing it.
Just spent two useless hours on the web. Found nothing of interest whatsoever. Just got a cracked wheat loaf out of the bread machine. As per tradition, I cut an extra-thick slice off the end and slather it with I can't believe it's not butter and eat it immediately. Excellent, as usual. I do so few things in this world well. Baking bread in a bread machine from a box mix seems to be one of them. Actually, I do pretty good without the mix, too. Especially whole-wheat bread. I still haven't branched out much. I do make a white loaf occasionally.
Took the trash out, don't know if they pick-up on Wednesday or Thursday, due to the 'holiday' so I better not take any chances. Any time that I try to out-guess 'em, I'm wrong. And I really hate that. Especially when we've got a lot of trash.
Speaking of the holiday, Alethea raised the question Monday of the red poppies that used to be so prevalent on Veteran's day. Anybody know what happened to that idea? I remember them when I was in grade school and parts of Jr. High, but not since then. Has the poppy-opium connection got anything to do with it? Or was it that the group that made and sold them (The poppies, not the opium) were a bunch of WWI wives that died off and left no one to carry on the tradition? And how the hell did poppies get to be associated with Vets' day, anyway? Surely, someone out there knows all these answers... let me know, if you do. Probably nobody cares, anyway, but me, and I don't either, very much, I'm just curious. It won't make much difference in my life if I don't find out... just be another... unsolved mystery.
I think that I'll put this up and call it a night. I was getting really sleepy when I put the trash out, then I got revived, now I'm going downhill again. And we're back to the single-entry days, I'll be back again tomorrow!
Thanx for Still being here!
