Yeah, that's right... it's the middle of the day and I'm up. I slept about three hours and woke up, can't get back to sleep. Bummer, as usual.
Several thoughts...
I'm also thinking really hard about moving my computer back upstairs. Too damned gloomy down here, but I do like the isolation. I can't hear the TV or anything going on upstairs... maybe I'm just lonely down here. I think I'll move into a different room up there, though. One closer to the living room. I can always wear my headphones when I don't want to be distracted.
Happy BirthdayTyler! I love you!
Slow night so far her at the ol' hospital, but that can change at any minute... I don't know what I want to happen. I need to have something happen to keep me awake, I only got three hours of sleep today, despite about ten hours of trying. I must not have a clear conscience, or something.
So I need something to do, but not too much. I have the feeling that I could be easily overwhelmed tonight. I don't want that to happen either. I just want to make it through the night and get home and get to sleep.
Karen and Kim and Lacee are going to Wichita tomorrow morning (Saturday) to see her folks, I wish I was going with them. They keep going down when I'm working, I guess because we do other things when I'm off. I'm looking forward to talking to Charlie (her father) now that he can hear.
Marty Schottenheimer evidently didn't read my entry last week, he played Bono anyway Thursday night, the Chiefs kicked ass. So I was wrong. He plays well against weak teams. I got to watch the first half at home with Karen, just saw parts of the second half here at work. Everything looked good, especially the final score. I was amazed that Atlanta kicked ass on the Cardinals so hard... 15 to zip. Quite a score. I'm not hardly interested in baseball any more, not since the strike. Karen and I didn't see any of the Royals games this year, we usually go to four or five. They are just not interesting anymore. No players that even stick in my memory, much less ones that can hit (or pitch). George Brett carried them for too many years.
Have I mentioned lately how cute Lacee is? Or how beautiful Karen is? No? Well, let me tell you... they are. And I love them both so much... kinda sickening, isn't it? For those of you who don't understand, anyway, it is...
Wow. From zero to 200 KPH in 4.7 seconds... I got three pages for stat exams within five minutes. Since then it's been steady, nothing serious happening tonight yet. It's only a little before 03:00, though... the bars close at 02:00, theoretically. The ones that didn't make it home will be coming soon.
Interesting political note...BoB Dole is taking Clinton to task for the democrats accepting money from naturalized US citizens with foreign interests. This is the same BoB who, less than three years ago, was fined either $100,000 or $10,000 (I can't remember the amount) for accepting illegal campaine contributions for the re-elect BoB Dole fund... he paid the fine without any hassle at all. There was a three-line article about it on the 15th page of the Capitol-Journal at the time.... someone was willing to keep it quiet. Someone will probably tell the democrats about it, just in case the missed it. But I won't. No, I won't be the one to do it... Ah, the hell I won't. I'll do it today!
I got another 2-fer-1 candy bar, this time it was M&M's. Plain ones, though, and I like the peanut ones. Bummer. And how about those BLUE ONES? Is there no respect for tradition anymore?
I don't know whether to be pissed, laugh or cry. The irony of it all. Just my fuckin' luck. I gave to the United Way this year (I usually don't) and there was a drawing. And I won! I won a ... free parking pass to the parking garage during the month of December. I can park anywhere in the garage that I want. The problem with that is... I already can! That's one of the (and probably the only) advantages of working third shift. I think I'll just laugh. I already traded it off for six "free" backrubs. Hah! That'll teach ya to get ironic on me, sister!
Something I really am pissed about... when I can home, there were pumpkin parts all over the street in front of the van. We got the Saab back last night, and Karen had parked the van in the street and I parked the Saab in the drive. And some son-of-a-bitch came by and lobbed a 30-pound pumpkin into the windshield. Glass all over, of course. So Karen can't go to Wichita today, she doesn't trust the Saab (with good reason) and the truck is too small for three people. So she's really pissed too. I would like to "talk" to the assholes that did that.
OK, time for some sleep.... probably about ten hours, I think. I hope. Happy birthday again, Tyler!
A very nice lady wrote me about my xmas rant, and she said that she'd given up xmas & presents & etc years ago. Just told the friends & relatives that it was over, and stuck to it. I really like that idea. Give people things when and if you see something that they'd like, damn the time of the year that it happens to be. I think I'm going to give away the nativity set my mother made for me and get started... after ample discussion with Karen, of course. I have the feeling that she'll be pretty negative about it, though I've learned not to pre-judge her.
