Some nights... are better than others. Last night was a very good night, in some ways. But a very physically tiring one, also. Very infrequently, I feel like I make a big difference in the patient's perception of their care, and that happened to me last night. I was xraying a young man who had wrecked his motorcycle and was in a lot of pain. As I was getting finished with the films (after about two hours) he told me that my voice and manner and professionalism had helped him a lot, and that he would always remember this as a good experience after a very bad experience. He was sober (Surprise!) when this happened, and seemed to be a very nice kid. He vowed to give up speed in any form, especially motorcycles.
Other than that, it was a really long night, always with more than one "stat" exam to do. Kept me running, but I managed to keep everyone happy. Right now, though, my legs are wobbly and my back is killing me. I was going to go to the banks today and do some necessary stuff, but I just can't get out again, I gotta go to sleep. I woke up too early yesterday, for some reason or another, so I started off tired. I need to get at least eight hours worth of sleep today.
It's raining again, we've probably got four inches since 18:00 yesterday. And more to come... I haven't checked the basement, I don't wanna know!
'til tomorrow....
