01:06

Ah! Sometimes I love being up all night... sometimes I don't. Struggling to stay awake until about 04:00. Then I'll sleep 'til about 13:00, then go to the bank and then go to work at Medassist and then go to work at the hospital. Then come home and crash, probably.

I've got a lot of stuff moved downstairs now, and got a temporary bench set up. I don't know, it might be a permanent bench. It' s an eight-foot countertop setting on a big pair of speakers. The speakers will be part of the sound system eventually. One thing that I like about this new set-up... I'm going to have access to the back of the computer. That will be a true luxury!

My main problem right now is the phone lines. I've got two lines coming in, one for the computer and the other one for voice. I think (and this has got me in trouble before) that I can run both lines in the same wire. Not the same wire, but there are two wire pairs in each line. You know what I mean, doncha? If you don't you're not interested in the rest of this discussion, anyway! So, the red and green wires will be my voice, and the yellow and black will be the modem, right? I think so, but last time I got them crossed some way or another, and I could never get it to work right. But I think I found the problem when I rewired the bathroom phone (I had the wires turned around), but I'm not for sure, 'cause I never tested it after that.

So, anyway, what I'm trying to say is, this might not work. Rather, it might not work immediately. I'm definitely going to get it to work, though. It just might take a while, and I might blow up every phone we have in the house before it's done. Yeah, I've done that before too...

So there might not be an entry tomorrow. Or the next day. Oh, wait, sure there will. I can just run a temp line from my voice line... if that works when I get done.

I'm really up in the air about whether I want to tackle this now or not. I've been up a long time, working kinda hard, and I know that once I get started I will want to go until I get it done. And if I get too tired, I'll do a sloppy job and screw something up. Maybe I'll wait until Thursday or Friday morning and work on the phone lines. Then if I screw up, I still have the computer in the same place, I can just plug the old line back in. So I need to leave the computer here until I get the phone done. Cool. I'm really glad that you helped me through this, I couldn't've done it by myself. So the plan is: Move stuff tonight for a while longer, then play on the net a while. Go to sleep, work, come home and do the phone line bit. Then move the computer some other time, after the lines are hunky-dory.

Wow! I'm glad we got that out of the way. I'm starting to get punchy, I think. We people who don't drink or use drugs... well, we just exceed our capacity for rational thinking with sleep deprivation. I can get just as stupid as a drunk after about 18 hours of wakefulness. And I enjoy it too, up to a point. And no hangover... as long as I can get seven or eight hours of sleep. Unfortunately, it will cause me to ramble a lot... stop me if you sense that that might be happening...

I put a doggie door in for Doggie yesterday. She's still not feeling really well, and we thought that if she could get out she wouldn't urinate or defecate (you didn't think I would be that nice, did you?) on the carpet anymore. So far, she's not used to it. I'd never put one in before because she will climb over the fence (someone thought that was cute when she was a pup!) and we have leash laws here in Topeka, and a few neighbors with not enough to do. Anyway, I don't think that the fence will be a problem anymore. We've had a cat door in the same place for about ten years, and that's worked out very well. Except for the occasional racoon or 'possom coming in and eating the cat food and terrorizing all the animals... anyway, she was always sticking her head out the cat door to see what was going on, so I thought she'd use it right away. She just needs more time...

Karen and I got a really nice Anniversary card from JD and Tyler. I really miss them, Karen and I are going to try to go down there this fall and visit them. We're definitely going to wait until it cools off. I was down there last August, thought I was gonna die. Hot, humid, absolutely miserable outside.

I put the guestbook on a separate page, with a shortcut from the journal entries. Maybe I'll get a little more feedback...

Thanx for being here!
