Interesting weather today, it can't figger out what it's doing, or going to do. At least I can't figger out what it's going to do.. I got up at 05:30 this morning to go fishing with JD, and he was still up. He'd been watching the weather channel, and the radar showed a line of storms moving into Topeka by 07:00. Yup, it looked like rain all right. So we just kinda laid back, waited for it to rain. A few sprinkles, a little breeze. That was it. The rain had gone south. So, we went out to eat breakfast. It still looked like rain. It didn't rain. We came home and decided to go fishing anyway. Just as JD got out to get the gate, it poured. For about 5 minutes, then it quit. So we fished for an hour or so, not doing really well. It started looking really nasty again, so we packed up and left. It rained maybe two minutes, then quit. And it still hasn't rained yet. But it looks like it could, any minute now!
JD and I have a long fishing history, starting when he visited me from Wyoming after his mom and Warren moved to Jackson Hole. We would sit and fish and discuss religion and philosophy and life and drink cokes and watch the stars. We really got to know each other that summer. He was about fourteen at the time. He moved here for good when he was sixteen.
When Karen gets back from Wichita today, we're going over to Herman and Debi's to eat and watch the Chiefs-Cowboys game on Monday night Football. Football season again, so soon. I'll root for the Chiefs again this year, even though I've really lost my taste for professional sports due to the baseball strike last year. Even with the strike, if the Royals were even half-way good... but they aren't. This will be the first season in 30 years that I haven't been to a Royals game. Or even listened to them on the radio or watched them on TV. Just no enthusiasm. Buncha way overpaid jocks, no loyalty to team or city, just to the biggest paycheck. Maybe it's always been that way, I just now figgered it out. O'well. I picked that up from Jay, along with the calender HTML. Thanks, Jay! O'well. I like it.
JD and I are having a real nice visit. I'm not entertaining him very well, but I did let him catch more fish than me this morning. He went out late last night to visit an old friend whose brother is moving to Oregon to study film-directing, and the brother and his parents were there, so JD got to visit with everybody and had a really good time. He's still waffling on whether or not to see his old girl friend Lisa, and his old buddy Chris, who walked off with a lot of his art supplies and music tapes when he left Texas after mooching off of JD for 4 months. Things that he has to resolve himself, I can't help him with them other than providing moral support.
I took my Cardiac Monitor in today, nothing happened to record, I guess I'm perfectly healthy...
More later maybe...
