Busy night at Medassist, fun, though. Got outta there right about 20:45 & went home. Karen had just got back from Lacee's dance lesson, she says that she's grubbin it up, really enjoying it, and she looks so damned cute in her dance outfit! I haven't seen it yet, and probably won't, since the class is on Wednesday and I always work on Wednesdays. Maybe I can get her to give me a private performance...
Got to bed at 22:30 and slept all night, unusual for me on a Wednesday. I woke up once with my arms around Karen and my down-side arm was completely asleep. I woke up briefly another time and it was raining hard. We opened up the house last night, it was cool and dry. Save on some AC bills, plus the Air Conditioned Closed-up house smell, with a dog and four cats, is overwhelming sometimes. Air it out... we kept the attic fan on for over an hour, it's so much nicer in here now! No wind associated with the rain, so nothing got ruined.
I got up at 06:00 right after Karen. Went fishing for a couple hours, enjoyed it and caught quite a few fish, and got very wet. Soaked is the proper word. I waited about 15 minutes after I got there for the rain to quit and it did. Fished for about 1 1/2 hours, then it started pouring down again. I was as far away from the truck as I could get when it started, of course. There was about 1/2 inch of water in the boat in the ten minutes it took me to get back. I waited about another 15 minutes before I decided to call it a day. Stripped off my wet clothes when I got home and took a nice long hot shower. I really feel like getting stuff done today, got a lot of domestic chores to do, laundry, vacuuming, cleaning the kitchen, getting set up to move the computer room downstairs...
Speaking of the latter, Karen really doesn't approve of the move. She thinks that she'll never see me any more, but I don't think that it'll work out that way. Besides, I'll have a lot more room down there, and all of my sound equipment is there and I would like to start playing my guitar again more regularly. Plus I need to set up the weight set and the bike and the treadmill and the EKG machine... none of which I'll use if I don't spend time near them. At least I don't now, they're too far away... in the basement. I need to look at them to think of working out, and I really need to start exercising. If it doesn't work out, I can always move back.
An additional benefit... kids that want to move back will stay in the upstairs bedroom; it probably won't be quite so comfortable for them... if you know what I mean! Plus we have all of that finished space, it's a shame not to use it.
As I said a couple of days ago, I'm printing out the journal entries for Karen. She made a comment on the first one I gave her..."Do you really want people to know how stupid you are? Buying cigarettes on the way to the cardiologist's office?" My reply was abject... again. That's the way it is. I could lie, or not mention it, but that's not like me. The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Not a really good way to get ahead in this world, but I feel a lot better about myself being that way. And I'm too damned old to change, even if I wanted to.
I've been getting some email correspondence from a person in the "anti-Fred Phelps" campaign. (see here) Interesting stuff, I plan on another rant when I can get it all together. The main problem is that I may become one of his targets, not a comfortable thing to be in Topeka...Stay tuned...
I'll stop now, probably be more later, so check by again!
Well, I got a lot of stuff done today... (NOT!) I did finally get MSIE 3.0 beta 2 DL'ed finally and got it zipped on four disks. Gave it to my Dr friend at Medassist, hopefully it's working for him. I almost returned the book he loaned me that I still haven't finished, but he told me to keep it 'til I was done. It's The Impossible Country by Brian Hall. A very good look into the Bosnia/Hertzgovenia thing. Very scary book.
Then about 15:30 I decided to take a short little nap. Karen woke me up about 20:00 with a nice short backrub and then we went for a short walk with a short dog and a short cat... well, we took Doggie, and Scrambles kinda followed us. It's such a pain going with doggie since she'd gotten deaf. She usta mind me so well, she must think she's perfect now since her perception is that I never yell at her anymore...
I wonder if she's just figgered out that if she ignores me... nah. She's only a dog. Ya gotta be a father-in-law to figger that one out! (That's a family joke...)
My friend Debi is having surgery tomorrow to remove some adhesions, and I'm going up to the hospital to keep Herman company. I sure hope that this comes out OK for her!
More good news! I DL'ed MS Mail and News, and when you have a URL in a message and click on it, it switches to MSIE and goes there! I love it!
