09:24

Long night, had a 07:15 meeting that didn't start until 07:35. Very interesting, I think. The hospital is trying to improve itself again, so there was a survey and today we got the results back. Somebody took a survey, anyway, I wasn't able to participate since it was a daytime survey... the only times to take it were like the middle of the night for me.

I did have an interesting experience, though. We had a patient come into the hospital with a myocardial infarct, and I had time to watch them do the cardiac cath and the balloon dilation on her. Her lesion was where my last one was, which made it even more interesting. She just made it into the hospital in time; she had been making all kinds of excuses for her pain, according to her husband.

It was interesting seeing the procedure from the other side of the table; it's very, very different than it was years ago when I was doing them. There is no film involved now; it's all very good quality video tape (we're talking $25,000.00 VCR's here!) and it was much quicker and much more efficient. The people who are running the machines and the people pushing the catheters are a lot better trained than in my day.

Sometimes this well-oiled medical machine fascinates me; you hear so much about the mistakes and the litigations, but most people don't get to see the lifesaving services that are performed on an hourly basis. It doesn't get any press... it's what's expected of us. Our job. And I love it.

I haven't gotten around to changing the menus, etc. that I'd mentioned earlier. Soon....
Again, this will be short because of fatigue. Back again tomorrow...

Thanx for being here!
