Nice, nice rain last night. There was a *big* cell on the radar, heading our direction. The red area in the radar stretched from Emporia to Manhattan, and there were reports of golf-ball size hail and 60MPH winds South and West of Topeka, but the storm part died down before it got here. We just got a good, long rain. Love the rain. Unfortunately, the rain will make the grass grow, and the dandelions. Good for the farmers, though. I love to get started on the yard work each spring, but after I've mowed the yard for the first time, I'm done. Then it's someone else's turn for the rest of the year. The problem is, there's no one else. Speaking of dandelions, I've been thinking of starting a Dandelion Appreciation Society. The sole problem with dandelions is that their publicity is bad. The perception that they are weeds was probably started by the guy that figgered out how to kill them. Then he made a mint, and his heirs continue making beaucoupe money. Anyway, dandelions are fascinating plants. Their growth rate is phenomenal and their propagation is prodigious. They, along with cockroaches, are survivors. An admirable quality. Someone who raised dandelions instead of, say, fescue, would have much less yard work to do. They would be much more productive during their time off. They could watch a lot more TV and have a lot more money to spend on other stuff. Think about it.

Thanx for being here!
