01 MAY 1996 Wednesday PM

Well, it happened. I was afraid it would happen, but I didn't think it would happen so SOON! I have let my world-wide readership down. Just because nothing interesting happened, I didn't write anything, and now the whole world knows how lazy I really am.

A brief synopsis of the days:

Sunday 28 APR 1996...nothing happened. Karen sick all day, I spent most of the day reading and web surfing.

Monday 29 APR 1996...It was not a good day. Doug & I had planned on going fishing about 13:00, but it was cold & cloudy & really windy, so we postponed it a day. Karen sick all day, sinus headache. I started her on some Zithromax & found I didn't have a full dose, so I went to Med Assist & Dr. Ron Huffman wrote her an RX for the rest. She was better by the evening. I was feeling better physically, the first really good day I'd had since my surgery.

Tuesday 30 APR 1996...A much better day. Went fishing at Betsy's pond. It was alternately sunny and overcast, with some wind and brief showers thrown in. The bass weren't biting nearly as well as I had anticipated due to the massive cold front that had pushed in Sunday night. Doug & I got there about 14:25 and had to duck for cover a couple of times. The numbers were turned completely around from our last trip. Doug had caught ten bass and several crappie before I caught my first bass. He was using a small white spinner with the skirt off and a grub tailer. Before long, so was I; but I didn't really start catching up until I got out the 'ol red rattletrap. Even then, our numbers weren't impressive: about 30 total for the day. About 17:30 we met our friend Greg and brought him in. He tube fishes, so Doug & I went back out in the bass boat & left Greg on his own. The bass had turned off completely for some reason; Greg only caught about three smaller ones, Doug caught a couple & I caught a couple about 19:30. I did have the big fish of the day, about 3 1/2 pounds. Andy, Betsy's husband, hobbled down (he recently got a cast off of his leg from a really nasty ankle sprain) to see how we were doing. He told us that a friend of his had got a 10-pounder off of a jig&pig off of the dam face. It was a female but eggless. Maybe the weather has been strange enough that the bass won't spawn at all this year? Anyway, the clouds were looking really nasty about this time, so we pulled Greg back to the ramp & called it a day. And a fun one, as all fishing days are...

Wednesday, 01 MAY 1996... (Today) No fishing today, but it's a beautiful day! I had an appt with Dr. Lui this AM, & he pronounced me fit to go back to work tonight. I have felt really good both yesterday and today, and, although I'm not really looking forward to working, I really happy that I'm able to, and won't have to take any unpaid time off! Karen worked yesterday & today, she's feeling much better. I had lunch with her and Kim. Kim's still having marital problems so we spent the entire lunch hour talking about that. I made some recommendations that I hope she follows up on, but I'm not really confident that she will. I hope that she can find happiness some way or another, for her sake and the kids. I wish the same for Steve, too, of course.

Now I need to get some sleep before going in to work tonight. It'll be rough, because I got a good seven hours last night! Need to try, though. I have a feeling that tonight will be a long one. Most first nights' back are!

Thanx for being here!
